Abstract :
FlexRay is a widely used communication protocol is used in vehicle to interconnect the equipment of vehicle. The interconnections of components in vehicle get more complex in modern cars as the advancement of new technology. This leads to enormous pressure in the FlexRay protocol to correctly maintain the overload of data. So, the need of self-testability is demanded more in modern times. Built-In-Self-Test has proven to be an effective solution of self-testing. This paper represents designing and implementation of FlexRay protocol with BIST capability over FPGA. Here, FPGA is used to attain the reconfigurable parallel architecture so that in car communication this system gets higher reliability and speed. The protocol is designed with Verilog HDL language and implemented over Spartan 3 FPGA. An EEPROM and FPGA Spartan 3 are used for the communication testing. The system works successfully in the FPGA so that the proposed architecture can be easily used in automobile.
