Abstract :
This paper discusses the considerations for rotating equipment use in hazardous locations. Today´s international projects frequently include a diversity of requirements, often placing local, international and American standards at odds, making the task of contractors, engineering companies and electrical and mechanical OEM´s tedious and difficult. This can either increase the costs unnecessarily, produce a specification that cannot be achieved or produce material that may not be suitable for the job. While it is not within the capability of this work to resolve these conflicts, it does serve as an objective comparative resource
