Abstract :
On behalf of the Conference Committee, we have great pleasure in welcoming you to the IEEE NANO 2012 conference. IEEE NANO is the flagship nanotechnology conference of IEEE, and one of the top nanotechnology conferences in the world. The IEEE NANO conference has been held annually since the first meeting in 2001 in Hawaii. This is the first time the conference has come to the United Kingdom. It is therefore a particular honour to be able to welcome delegates from all over the world to Birmingham, the second largest city in the UK, where Watt developed the steam engine and Tolkien´s imagination was fashioned.
