Abstract :
Based on the investigation of the board effect on the bandwidth of integrated antennas for mobile phones a concept for a built-in meandered double-PIFA, MDPIFA, handset antenna for covering GSM900/1800, PCS1900, and UMTS2000 bands is presented. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique was used to calculate antenna characteristics such as impedance and radiation patterns for three cases: in free space, on a handset, and on a handset near a homogeneous head model and a block model of the hand in an actual position of phone use. We also obtained near E-field and specific absorption rate (SAR) distributions.
