  • Abstract
A dual-mode algorithm which incorporates a stop-and-go technique for blind equalization is investigated. The constant modulus algorithm (CMA) exhibits very slow convergence when applied to QAM signals. To speed up the convergence rate, a dual-mode CMA was developed. We show that the convergence properties of the dual-mode CMA can be significantly improved by simply adding a stop-and-go technique. The operation of the stop-and-go dual mode CMA is independent of the carrier offset and thus can be used even when the carrier offset is unknown
