Abstract :
The 5.0-V voltage level has been the standard for logic design for almost 30 years. The author examines the factors which are now causing a change in standard voltage levels for logic devices together with the standards which will enable the same ease of interoperability as 5-V devices. Battery technology and mixed voltage level operation are considered
