Abstract
Using multiple antennas at the transmitter and receiver, Vertical Bell Laboratories Layered Space-Time (V-BLAST) system exploits the multipath characteristics of a wireless channel to enable very large capacities. However, the V-BLAST original detection algorithm using the decision feedback equalization (DFE) is not optimum in maximum likelihood sense. This paper proposes an improved DFE decoding algorithm for V-BLAST system that gives significant improvement in error performance with little increase in computational power. And the new algorithm can be easily used for the performance-complexity trade-off by appropriately choosing two parameters.
