  • Abstract
A effective algorithm for shot boundary detection in compressed domain is proposed in this paper. Firstly, only I frames are uncompressed partly to generate DC images and then character of these DC images to be extracted. Secondly, for cut detection, shot boundary is generally detected by difference of DC images´ character and then precisely located by movement information of B frames in compressed video. For gradual transition detection, the range of shot gradual transition is generally detected by CDDC algorithms presented in this paper and then precisely located by the change of amount of intra coding macroblocks in P frames. By this way, the disadvantage of shot boundary detection in compressed domain is compensated. So the algorithm presented in this paper has merit of good efficiency and good precision.
