Abstract :
On-demand broadcast is an effective data dissemination approach for mobile computing. Currently most of recent studies on on-demand broadcast consider a restrictive case of single-item requests of mobile clients. In this paper, we extend on-demand broadcast to cater for multi-item requests with timing constraints. We argue for the case of aggregation of data requests to minimize the broadcast bandwidth and deadline miss rate. We present several aggregation algorithms and discuss their strengths and weaknesses. Our preliminary simulation results show that the aggregation algorithms perform much better than the algorithms without aggregation.
