Abstract
Barium Strontium Titanate, (Ba0.6Sr0.4)TiO3, (BST) modified with Magnesium Titanate, MgTiO3 (MT, in a range of 1 to 9 mol%) ceramic composites were prepared by a conventional mixed-oxide method. The structure and dielectric properties of BST-MT composites were investigated as a function of MT content. The MT phase was not detected by XRD in the studied composites. However, SEM results revealed the presence of plate-like grains in the range of MT content and the amount of plated-like grains increases with increasing the MT content. With the EDS analysis, Mg ions were confirmed to be present in the plate-like grains. A diffused paraelectric-ferroelectric phase transition was observed with increasing the MT content. Tangent loss of BST/MT composite was considerably improved by a small amount of MT modification.
