Abstract
This paper deals with modeling and simulation of wave backscattering effects. Particularly the case of propagation in clouds and precipitation is considered. We analyze the case of different types of hydrometeors. Backscattering of microwaves on water droplets and ice crystals of different shapes is considered as function of polarization, antenna elevation, size distribution of scatterers and other factors. Polarization parameters of scattered signal are calculated. Applied software for numerical calculations under the different conditions is developed. Results are useful for recognition of hydrometeor types. They can be used for different practical applications, particularly for developing methods of dangerous weather phenomena detection.
