Abstract
In developing applications that target more than one platform with varying sizes and capabilities, interoperability is an important issue to consider. To address this, protocols are established and standards are defined. For real-time multimedia streaming, the standard real-time protocol (RTP) could be used. Application development libraries for this protocol are readily available for desktop and for more powerful computing systems. However, despite the advancement of mobile technologies and handheld computing devices, there is still lack of support for the development of mobile applications that utilize this protocol.
