Abstract
The crossed-field secondary emission (CFSE) diode is a relatively new electron source which is capable of producing annular electron beams in 102 A range of output currents. The basic mechanism of the CFSE diode operation is a secondary emission multiplication of a small (few mA) primary current. Therefore, it is essentially a cold electron source that does not rely on the existence of any heated surfaces or plasma
