  • Abstract
An analog interface card for a personal computer, or more specifically an analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter, was designed and built as a technologist laboratory project. Many factors were taken into consideration during the design process, including such criteria as conversion speed, bit width, number of channels, and the interface specifications of the controlling computer. The final result was a two-channel analog interface with left and right audio inputs and outputs and a digital interface to either the PT68K-2 microcomputer or the IBM PC or PC-clone microcomputer. The audio inputs and outputs could connect directly to any line-level source or sink such as personal stereo components, and the software for the control of the interface allowed for sampling and playback of the audio. Although a few problems persisted, the net result of the design effort was a primarily functional interface
