Abstract
This paper proposes an architecture for a dedicated receiver that addresses real time and broadband operation challenges of broadband sensing receivers in cognitive radios. Fast response and accurate sensing is aided by the combination of power sensing at RF, baseband and in the digital domain. The proposed architecture provides the ability to perform adaptive coarse and fine sensing at different points in the receive chain. The impact of the proposed scheme is demonstrated using a realistic simulation set up.
