Abstract :
We report on the non-linear performance comparison between two 8QAM modulation formats using Nyquist pulse shaping. Although less tolerant to phase noise and frequency detuning, we show that the Circular-8QAM format outperforms the Star-8QAM by 0.5 dB after transmission.
