Abstract
The authors present the design of an amplitude comparator. Its operating and restraining signals were formed from those of the Mho relay. Mathematical equations describing the behavior of the phase and amplitude comparators are derived. The characteristics of the phase comparator and its equivalent amplitude comparator are analyzed. The comparators were implemented using the Texas Instruments´ TMS320C25. The performance of the phase and amplitude comparators was checked using the EMTDC simulated data. Some test results are included.
