Abstract :
In this paper a simple methodology to assess the availability of multi-satellite systems for terminals in urban areas is presented. Urban environments are defined in terms of a mixture of basic or canonic scenarios, namely, street canyons, street crossings T-junctions, single walls. For each of these basic scenarios "masking functions" are defined which are well suited for a quick, approximate evaluation of the availability.
