Abstract
Targeting at providing wireless broadband access in metropolitan area networks, the IEEE 802.16 standard group has established a sub-group to study new protocol. Wireless mesh network (WMN) becomes the research hotspot in communication areas as it can be used to solve "the last mile" problem. To test the performance of IEEE 802.16 MAC protocol, the self-design simulation platform is proposed. In the article, backbone for simulation platform is designed in detail. The simulation platform supports operation and systematic simulation of MAC protocol that developed in actual project. Through combining theoretical study with practical development, the simulation platform can reduce workload from theoretical study to final realization. Using the simulation platform, the MAC layer program can be debugged, comprehensive performance can be evaluated. The study method of designing simulation platform can provide new ideas for protocol study.
