Abstract :
An interference matrix estimates the level of interaction between any two cells in a cellular network. This paper studies various aspects of generating an interference matrix from mobile measurement reports in the GSM network. A method is developed to compare two different matrices for the same network area. The method is used to compare interference matrices varying from three different reasons. Firstly, different ways to generate an interference matrix from measurement data are compared to each other. Secondly, a matrix based on the radio wave propagation prediction method is compared to the measurement based interference matrix. Finally variance in the interference matrix is studied as a function of measurement period length.
