Abstract :
Despite recent advances in networking technologies, video streaming applications still suffer from limited bandwidth and highly varying network conditions. As a solution, this paper proposes a novel multi-source streaming strategy specifically tailored for next generation mobile networks to deliver multimedia services to mobile users. The proposed solution consists of a set of mechanisms that aim at ensuring seamless, continuous, and smooth playback of video for users, guaranteeing an efficient and fair utilization of network resources while meeting the playback and buffer constraints of the clients, preventing redundant transmissions and minimizing packet reordering. A set of computer simulations is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed strategy and encouraging results are obtained.
