Abstract :
This paper is a synthesis of various research work performed on innovative structures for electrical machines responding to new performance requirements and applications. It will establish an initial comparison between the possibilities of both types of machines, namely the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) and switched reluctance machine (SRM), since more competing by conventional machines such asynchronous and synchronous. A presentation of the various statistical applications will be made (motor of electric vehicles, wind generators, aerospace, robotics, electrical appliance...), with various criteria. This would help to choose the best-suited type of machine for the intended application. It will be completed with the presentation of analytical-numerical methods to design effective structures of PMSM and SRM.
