Abstract :
In this study a mathematical model is developed to characterize the cardiovascular system. Simultaneous photoplethysmographic (PPG) signals were recorded from two sites of the body from 25 healthy subjects. The obtained signals were preprocessed, then a segment of the data which was relatively free of noise and motion artifact was selected for the modeling process. Linear parametric models were compared according to loss function, namely AIC, FPE, and MDL. Among four parametric models (ARX, ARMAX, OE and BJ), the ARX model was found to be best fitted to the observed signals.
