Abstract :
HVDC transmission has been widely used in system interconnections, particularly for long distance and bulk-power transmission. Research into HVDC transmission and AC-DC interconnections technologies has become a very hot topic, with the RTDS real-time simulation study on HVDC control and protection being one of the key technologies that has drawn a wide attention. This paper presents an HVDC control and protection real-time simulation system based on a SIMADYN D platform in line with practical HVDC projects. Through the establishment of base component library and newly developed NewLinkC software configuration, HVDC control and protection function modules are compiled and packaged into RTDS system, which forms a closed loop RTDS compatible real-time simulation system. The existing RTDS modules such as the AC system, converter transformers, converter valves, lines, filters, etc. are integrated, and the final simulation system developed has fundamentally solved problems existing in the current HDVC simulation study, making it very useful for practical analysis and design of control and protection of HVDC systems.
