Abstract :
Congress mandated that the Department of Defense (DoD) migrate to a single data broadcast format and an integrated intelligence broadcast/dissemination architecture and evolve to a single related terminal family. The DoD responded to this mandate with the Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS) Plan which resolved the uncoordinated proliferation of “stove-piped” intelligence broadcasts and with the Tactical Terminal Migration Plan yielding the Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT). The expressed goal of reducing the total cost of ownership by distributing an integrated, near real time (NRT), tactical information product and fielding common terminals and processing modules to subscribers was achieved
