Abstract :
The generalized power flow controller (GUPFC) also denominated multi line UPFC, is one of the most advanced flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) controller. This device can control power flows of more than one line or even a sub network. Due to the flexibility of this controller, the integration of this device in power flow studies can be considered as important. In this context, this paper presents a new steady-state model of the GUPFC suitable for power flow calculation. This model offers the facility to be easily incorporated in existing load flow software, as well provides automatic GUPFC parameter adjustment and accounts for GUPFC operating limits. A case-study is presented using a five bus network, to demonstrate the effectiveness and performance of the GUPFC model.
