Abstract :
The city development potential is the dynamical force with which the urban systems can be supported to be integrated, comprehensive, and sustainable in the future. Several aspects including social, technological, economic, resources and environmental system should be considered in the evaluation of the city development potential. In this paper, firstly, an evaluation index system is developed based on these five aspects and the weight for different indexes is presented by expert scoring method. Then, a multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model (MFCEM) is proposed to evaluate the development potential of cities. Finally, Zhengzhou, the provincial capital of Henan province, is taken as an empirical analysis. The results indicate that Zhengzhou has a medium development potential degree and the proposed MFCEM is effective and feasible. The research would be viable in the comprehensive quantitative evaluation of development potential and helpful in the construction and development of Zhengzhou city.
