Abstract :
To achieve high-speed positioning in optical disk drives, optimal control and mechanical design are important. From this point of view, the construction of a practical minimum-energy positioning control system based on an optimal regulator is proposed. Calculations show that the proposed control can realize optical head positioning with almost constant positioning accuracy and power consumption per unit time for various positioning times. Experimental and calculated positioning trajectories of the optical head positioner agree well. Repetitive velocity errors are with 5 mm/s, and repetitive positioning errors are within ten tracks, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed control
