Abstract :
This research is carried out on protocol design of CAN for the acoustic emission diagnostic system (AEDS). We have been developing the AEDS which is used to examine whether the state of equipments is good or bad. The system must need unification through communication method because it consists of a monitoring unit and some diagnostic units. A monitoring unit is able to simultaneously control diagnostic units and to conveniently monitor all diagnostic units in a short time. All diagnostic units should handle diagnostic results of the inspection data that is measured by the acoustic emission sensor. Accordingly the system needs both a quite rapid response speed and unparalleled reliability and safety. The CAN is used in broad range of industry field as communication method and is applied to diverse application systems. The CAN is satisfied with these requirements at the AEDS. The CAN has enough response speed and high reliability and safety. Consequently, we have applied the CAN to the AEDS. The system has been improved an efficient protocol design of CAN.
