Abstract
In order to make a business more profitable, one must maximize production capability while minimizing spending. The goal is to achieve a `faster, better and cheaper´ ramp from pilot line to high volume manufacturing. This translates to speedy conversion of factories from one technology to the next while reducing cost. For Intel´s 32nm technology node, we, in collaboration with many suppliers, have developed an innovative methodology called the Mixed Labor Model (MLM). This model has enabled us to successfully meet the necessary conversion schedule durations while reducing the cost of labor. The novel technique has resulted in a higher level of cost reduction and established better partnership between Intel and its suppliers.
