Abstract :
The enterprise information networks (EIN) are forced to continuously update their service architectures to provide reliable network services. Employing distributed service architecture eases the addition of new applications/services to the existing EIN. However, the newly added applications/services may modify the existing EIN architecture (EINA) thereby necessitate the management scheme to be adaptable to the new EINA. In this paper, EINA is viewed as two-level enterprise with a set of servers at the first-level and their associated set of clients at the second-level. We have proposed a bio-inspired management scheme to manage the servers by consolidating some of them, wherein the remaining servers would be better utilized to serve all clients in turn reflecting an efficient and effective management. Our simulation for an EINA with 8 servers serving 110 clients demonstrates the feasibility in improving the individual server utilization by 15% to 38% with 38% reduction in the total number of servers.
