Abstract :
The paper presents an automatic procedure for the design optimisation of a synchronous reluctance motor with a flux barrier rotor that combines the finite element analysis (FEA) with an optimisation routine. The aim of the optimisation is the improvement of the torque and it is carried out considering two different design strategies. The proposed procedure allows definition of the rotor geometric dimensions starting from an existing motor or a preliminary design
