Abstract :
So far conventional PI and PID controllers have been mostly used in control system of FACTS controllers to control active and reactive power in HVAC systems. In this paper, Fuzzy control is used in the control system of Unified Power Flow Controller, as one of the well-known member of FACTS controllers, to increase its dynamic performance, especially in power system critical condition. Studying a critical case of power system in three-phase fault occurrence and comparing the results in the presence and absence of UPFC are the purposes of the paper. It is tried to obtain this goal by damping transient oscillations and to reach steady state quickly as well as to pursue the reference values properly. Simulations have been carried out on MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. To show the efficacy of the proposed controller, the obtain results have been compared with conventional PID controller. It was revealed that the Fuzzy controller could lead to better results.
