Abstract :
A novel approach to designing broadband array antennas, based on the shared aperture, sparse array antenna concept, is discussed. The types of individual radiators that are best suited for such configurations are investigated. Some relevant design strategies are indicated. A number of preliminary numerical experiments that are representative for the proposed theoretical ideas are presented.
