  • Abstract
The successful widespread introduction of fiber access networks will depend critically on the approach taken to the operation, administration, maintenance and provisioning (OAM&P) activities. The functionality of the equipment, the network management systems, tools and the training of the field personnel, all of which are linked by processes, organization and communications must be designed as a coherent whole, optimized to minimize whole-life costs. A standardized approach is described that takes advantage of the particular capabilities of the equipment, computing systems and human resources to achieve this end
