Abstract :
The advantages of the digital access presence (DAP) concept which evolves the copper based network to fiber-in-the-loop (FITL) network to support special services for the existing business customers is demonstrated. It is shown how the new DAP concept will maximize the existing copper investment while improving the quality of service to generate more revenue and to reduce operation cost. FITL architectures are used to support broadband services. With the deployment of FITL, major changes in resource provisioning, service provisioning and fault management are foreseen. There are steps that can be taken now to successfully address these issues
