Abstract
A miniaturized zeroth-order resonant composite right/left-hand (CRLH) antenna based on modified Jerusalem mushroom structure is presented. The proposed modified Jerusalem unit cell is implemented by the CRLH lumped elements. The resonant frequency can be simply engineered by controlling the area and width of the mushroom patch. Zeroth-order resonator (ZOR) antenna prototype is composed of two unit cells. Each of them occupies only 0.06λ0×0.06λ0 at the operating frequency of 3.55 GHz. Moreover, the antenna exhibits the dipole-like radiation patterns and has a peak gain of 1.02 dBi.
