Abstract :
Summary form only given. Microwave can be absorbed by various types of structure, in magnetic type there are ferrite, carbonyl iron, in dielectric type there are carbon, carbon chirals, and carbon nanotubes. Generally these radar absorbing materials (RAM) can not provide broadband and time varying microwave absorption capability. Plasma has been proposed to serve this purpose. The effects of plasma on electromagnetic wave propagation are related to its density and spatial distribution. Density changes plasma frequency and attenuation constant, while spatial profile affect scattering direction. In situation high density plasma is not readily available; scattering plays a more important role than absorption. We present preliminary analysis on electromagnetic wave propagation through a wedge type large area plasma panel in front of a metal plate.
