Abstract :
A dual-frequency printed folded dipole antenna is designed with a PBG structure carved in the antenna´s arms, working well at two main frequencies in wideband RFID systems. The physical size of the antenna is minimized obviously, only 42 mm times 32 mm times 2 mm, and the excellent function by two-plane antenna could be carried out on this one-plane antenna. Making an antenna sample of the novel structure with FR4 dielectric board, we tested its return loss and directional characteristics. The measured results show that the bandwidth performance and patterns are quite good similar to the simulated results, but the radiation characteristic a little worse due to some error in engineering process. Compared to other improved structures, this new PBG structure has special advantage in simplifying the antenna structure. Considering engineering processes, the influences of antenna arm width, dielectric loss and PBG structure bore´s size on the performance of antenna are particularly studied.
