Abstract :
This paper presents the design and realization of a stub mounted loaded line phase shifter using a novel flexure type RF MEMS shunt switch. The design consists of a CPW transmission line with two identical stubs loaded with MEMS switches. RF MEMS switch provides the inherent advantages of linearity, low insertion loss, better RF performance as compared to p-i-n diode. Phase shifter is designed for 22.5° and 45° to obtain the constant Phase shift for large range of frequencies from centre frequency of 30GHz. Simulation results show that the phase shifter introduces an insertion loss of 0.06dB/bit and -1.48dB/bit for the two cases respectively and the actuation voltage of the switch is found to be 17.2V.
