Abstract
Methods to analyze the convergence and steady-state characteristics of an adaptive notch filter when the effects of fixed-point arithmetic are taken into account are presented. The adaptive detection of a sinusoid with white Gaussian noise is investigated. The reduction of these effects by means of error spectrum shaping is also discussed. The results of computer simulation are shown. These confirm the theoretical prediction
