Abstract
Summary form only given. We report on characterization of radiation production from negative-polarity RP diodes, and then investigate the operation of non-reentrant diodes (where the anode rod does not extend through the cathode). Our results indicate that impedance coupling is affected strongly by the axial component of the electric field at the rod tip, and therefore that the entire diode geometry, including regions far from the A-K gap, is important.
