            Abstract : 
A method is presented to obtain a rough surface estimation as a sum of kernel functions from side-scan sonar measurements. The sonar measurements are compared to pre-computed sonar responses of single kernels. From combined sonar responses, an estimation of a kernelized surface representation is obtained. Further refinement of kernel parameterization is done via raytracing.
