Abstract :
The electrical and physical properties of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation are investigated in the temperature range of 20-160°C. The tensile elongation at break, the tensile strength, the relative permittivity and volume resistivity are decreased by increasing the insulation temperature over its maximum operating temperature. The dissipation (or loss) factor is increased with increasing temperature over 90°C
