Abstract :
This paper presents a socio-economic model of community based wind power systems in the Southeastern Michigan area. A well known community sustainability socio-economic model called the 3 E´s +1 is taken as the baseline for the model development. An additional and unique feature of “community partnership” is added to the based model. The intent of the model is to demonstrate how community sustainability initiatives based on community wind power systems can be coupled with the latest socio-economic community based self-management tools and be applied successfully in urban and city environments. It is a model that promotes community partnership between the community and its utility, municipality, financial, educational and business institutions.
