Abstract
This paper presents the Grid Fault Ride though (FRT) tests of a 5 MW wind turbine. The permanent magnet generator of the turbine is connected to the grid via a medium voltage IGBT converter MV7000. The control of the line side converter (LSC) is explained and measurements and simulations of the Low Voltage Ride though (LVRT) tests are shown. Tests carried out include 2- and 3-phase faults with residual voltages between 0.85 and 0.0 p.u. Additionally simulations of the High Voltage Ride through (HVRT) are shown.
