Abstract :
Smartgrids are a key element in the supply of energy services to the cities of the future. The impact of the use of more variable energy resources is extremely important for handling these energy flows. The different energy services have to be fulfilled: lighting, appliances, heating/cooling and transport. Both residential and commercial buildings are to be considered. The electricity smartgrid operates together with other networks like gas and heat. The impact of different types of embedded storage will allow to introduced flexibility in the demand. Data handling and telecommunication are essential. The paper describes the interactions between all elements.
