Abstract :
The fading phenomenon is one of the factors of quality deterioration in mobile communication technologies. A single-feed planar antenna which is composed of two antenna components, the planar monopole antenna (PMA) and the planar slot antenna (PSA), is proposed for improvement of deteriorated receiving characteristics due to fading phenomenon. Antenna characteristics of proposed antenna and its components which are analyzed by the FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) method are obtained. Return loss characteristics and radiation patterns are compared analytically and experimentally. It is found that analyzed results correspond well with experimented results, and the proposed antenna has a resonant frequency with a function of the PMA and the PSA from current distribution. Moreover, it becomes evident from the results of field experiment that the proposed antenna can improve the receiving characteristic.
