Abstract
We have demonstrated that fibre dispersion compensation is an effective way to reduce the fibre communication system impairments due to modulational instability (MI). The DC required to minimize the MI effect is approximately half the lumped DC configuration than the distributed DC configuration where dispersion is compensated within each fiber span. Excellent agreement between theory and experiment is obtained
