  • Abstract
This paper describes the typical application based on Short Message Service (SMS) data transfer technology in the power industry monitoring. In order to improve the data transfer efficiency, DPCM and HSF encoding technologies were adopted to realize high effective compression. However, being a static code, HSF sometimes can lead to compression inefficiencies if the statistics of the actual data differ from the original one. Additionally, the adaptive Huffman code performs badly in segment fashions, like SMS. We developed a set of schemes on dynamic HSF code table, and modeled and calculated the departure between the ideal code table and the running one to decide whether updating was needed. By compressing the code-table´s redundancy and rectifying HSF code, we can use only some dozens of bytes to figure the whole HSF code table including 511 symbols. As a result, only one short message is needed to transfer the whole HSF code table.
